Is it time for a new mattress? Often purchasing a new mattress only comes along every 15-20 years as most mattresses will often wear well up until this point. If your mattress falls into this age range then it is quite possible that it's time to replace that mattress. Does your mattress still provide good support? Waking up with aches and pains may be related to health concerns but they may also be because of your mattress. Consult your doctor or physician when you have aches and pains for a prolonged period of time to make sure there aren't related health issues causing it. However, if you can rule out your health then it is likely that those aches and pains are being caused by your mattress and would be a good indication that it's time to replace your mattress. Your body will usually let you know when it's time for a new mattress and remember to give yourself some time to get used to a new mattress if you decide to purchase a new one. We spend on average 8 hours of our 24 hours a day on our mattress. It's a good idea to make sure that when it's time for a new mattress that every effort be made to find the one that will provide us with the most comfort and support.

There are many of us out there that have to deal with a sore back in the morning or perhaps have had back or hip surgery. Nothing is more difficult than trying to get comfortable enough to fall asleep when you have lower back pain. Unfortunately innerspring mattresses tend to aggravate the condition and tossing and turning throughout the night is often the sleep experience that we all end up having.

Mattresses that offer pressure relief are often looked upon in a skeptical manner. After all if it sounds too good to be true it often is. However, there are brands of mattresses out there that do what they say and it's very likely that you know owners of these mattresses who swear by the comfort, support and relief that these mattresses offer.

In the 1980's experiments began in Sweden to perfect the pressure relieving material used in the American space shuttle program for consumer applications. One such use was to integrate it into sleeping products such as mattresses and pillows. These early designs were used in hospitals and were met with much success. In 1991 a company called Tempur-Pedic Swedish Mattress began marketing and distributing the mattresses commercially and in the first year sold more than 50,000 units in Sweden alone. Soon these mattresses would make their way into homes throughout the world offering pressure relief to restless sleepers.

Today Tempur-Pedic mattresses are sold worldwide in almost a dozen different designs and styles. A large assortment of pillow designs are also available to help anyone find that perfect comfort.
